Spoleto Festival USA

Description:  

For more than 20 years Charleston has played host to Spoleto Festival USA. The festival runs for two weeks and has an array of artistic performances. There is opera, dance, jazz, theater, orchestral, chamber and contemporary music, plus literary and visual arts. All the halls, theaters, and historic churches are filled with people who enjoy America's greatest celebration of the arts. For more information, visit the Spoleto USA website.

In addition to the Spoleto Festival, we have Piccolo Spoleto running concurrently. Piccolo Spoleto highlights the best of both regional and local talent. The Piccolo Spoleto events are free!

   
MOJA Arts Festival

Description:   The MOJA Arts Festival celebrates African and Caribbean Arts.
   
  In addition to Spoleto and the MOJA Arts Festivals, we host the Festival of Houses and Gardens, The Flowertown Festival, The Lowcountry Oyster Festival, the Preservation Society's Annual Candlelight Tour of Homes and Gardens, and more!

Charleston Symphony Orchestra

Description:  

Charlestonians are proud of their Orchestra, as they should be. There is a 38-week season, which begins in September and ends in June. There are classical greats offered in the Masterworks and Sottile concerts. There are pops favorites with the Charleston Pops Downtown and Light & Lively performances, even specialty concerts for families and children.

The Dock Street Theatre

The Dock Street Theatre is one of the most famous theaters in Charleston. Currently the Amazing Charleston State Company performs at the Dock Street Theatre. This Company has been producing family-oriented plays for as long as Charlestonians can remember. Be sure to see one of the fine performances between October through April.

   
The Footlight Players

Description:   You are sure to appreciate these dedicated amateurs along with their professional quality sets and costumes! The Footlight Players was founded in 1931; it is community theater at its best. They frequently play to a full house so it is important to call for a reserved seat. Tickets are very reasonably priced.

Description:   This is perhaps the best bargain in local theater. For about $5.00 per ticket, you can see hilarious comedic performances. The atmosphere is always casual, warm and friendly. Some performances take place in a funky beach bar on the Isle of Palms! For a good laugh and a chance to observe some of Charleston's most talented actors, call about the Pluff Mud Productions' schedule of performances.

The Charleston Museum

Description:   Founded in 1773, the Charleston Museum is the oldest museum in the United States. Upon arrival you will see a full-scale replica of the Confederate States' submarine Hunley. Charleston's history is reflected in wonderful collections of clothing, furniture, silver, games, vehicles, photographs and more. There is a "Discover Me" room for children.
   
Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum

Description:   This popular museum is home of the famous W.W.II aircraft carrier, YORKTOWN. You will also see the submarine CLAMAGORE, destroyer LAFFEY, Coast Guard Cutter INGHAM. There are vintage aircraft and weapons on display, as well as a Vietnam fire support base. Those of us who reside in Mount Pleasant are looking forward to the arrival of the H.L. Hunley at Patriots Point once the Hunley commission makes the right decision about where to house the relic!
