Located north and inland from Peninsular
Charleston, North Charleston is the area's industrial
heart, teeming with economic activity. With a strong
military presence, the port facility, the airport, the
intersection of two interstates, and countless plants
and office complexes, North Charleston is where Charleston
works. Centrally located between every major suburb,
North Charleston is an easy drive from everywhere. Major employers include Bosch, Mead WestVaco, American Lafrance, Dodge, Boeing, the Navy, and the Air Force among others.
North Charleston is experiencing a renaissance with the redevelopment of the old Navy submarine base. This project, called Noisette and located in the Park Circle area of North Charleston, is setting the standard for urban redevelopment. Combining infill development, new tracts of land being developed, rehabilitating blighted areas, green space preservation, and significant public and private investment to build and repair infrastructure, Noisette is ambitious and stands to be yet another feather in Charleston's "development done right" cap.
Golf enthusiasts should look at Coosaw Creek, while
new home shoppers should browse Tanner Plantation. Price
conscious house hunters could shop Park Circle.
